All of the failures and foibles of the British High Command on the Western Front along the Somme and other actions is completely glossed over, and these operations are instead presented as outstanding successes against the cowardly and demoralized Boche. . . Humbug. Anyone who would call the follies of The Somme offensive a success surely has some ulterior motive. The overall quality of the anecdotes is somewhat more constrained, than the first book and more than a little contrived at times.
